we live in an age where being a truth teller and justice seeker is met
with much scoffing, suspicion and even isolation.
and to an extent, this is of no surprise.
for ages the so-called truth tellers, justice seeks and borderline
legalistic have operated from a state of depravity -
a depravity of, in particular, love and tenderness.
we have at times earned ourselves the title:
borderline-Pharisee.
indeed,
not every line needs to be crossed;
and not every hill needs a martyr.
but,
when those circumstances come,
and come they will,
where the call to be a truth teller and justice seeker is unpopular
because
sparring has now been traded for coddling,
and neo-Phariseeism is on the rise -
be encouraged:
there is something significantly holy about your preoccupation with integrity and truth.
be warned:
do not allow your sense of justice to be corrupted by bitterness.
take heart:
the student is not greater than the Teacher.
those who have ears to hear, will hear;
those who have hears to hear, will listen and understand.
my dearest, fellow truth tellers and justice seekers,
I beg of you:
when those times come,
and come they have -
take your place
in the long historical line of
stubborn saints
who have dared to go where others cowered to go,
as you pledge allegiance to
Christ the King
no matter the cost.
